have been slacking these few days. all plans to go for runs and cycling was stalled becos i slept real late. only did a 2.4 km run on sch track in 10mins and decided to let my body rest.
yesterday's session with the JHSC was fruitful and yet difficult... I left before it ended but I delivered a very sharp and open message to the yr 3s and i think they were too shocked to react. But I feel we need to address some of these negative influences and sentiments which may derail the organisation, especially when the time will be coming for them to take over. We would definitely need time to mend the gaps and rebuild some of the relationships.
but it sparks me thinking, can we really accept criticisms and feedback with openness? or do we really have to think about saving face and/or the problem of face? Of course, it is too generalised to make any judgement call but i feel that as long as it is sincere criticisms and feedback abt certain situation and behaviour and not abt personal attacks; coming from the heart, we shld 谦虚地接受批评和意见. But i find it quite difficult in Asian cultures (is this a sweeping statement?!?)
anyway,
" What is a face, really? Its own photo? Its make-up?
Or is it a face as painted by such or such painter?
That which is in front? Inside? Behind? And the rest?
Doesn't everyone look at himself in his own particular way?
Deformations simply do not exist" ...
Pablo Picasso, Spanish artist.
I like this quote by former US president, Gerald R Ford,
"In all my public and private acts as your president, I expect to follow my instincts of openness and candor with full confidence that honesty is always the best policy in the end."
