Went to watch Angels and Demons with mich on Mon. I have never read Dan Brown's books (which Mich said it is much better than the movie(s) ) and I probably won't wanna read them because they are too thick. I like the idea of condensing the thick stories into a 2-3 hr movie.
laziness is a lame excuse
But I like this one, personally I feel it is much better than the Da Vinci Code though the reviews and ratings say otherwise. maybe because i didnt have the background knowledge and baggage of hving read the book.
Anyway, I like this particular quote:
"The Church is flawed but only because man is flawed. All men, including this one."- Cardinal Strauss (From the Movie)
Religion is flawed, but only because man is flawed.
DAN BROWN, Angels & Demons (From the Book)
Please don't jump into conclusion and start flaming that I am anti-religion. I have nothing against religion or Christian faith for that matter. i think a lot of things that happened in this world, the wars, the violence under the pretext of religion, the huge debate on what is rite and what is wrong on gender relationships, global warming, destruction of environment, nepotism, corruption, rich and poor's widening divde, famine, the most recent H1N1 pandemic... stems from the fact that man is imperfect and these flaws resulted in less-than-desirable behaviours and actions and consequences mentioned above.
sort of link to my previous entry on the newspaper article by Geoff.
ok, I am not gonna start a discourse on the above mentioned issues in this self-indulgent online journal of mine. So plse dun ask me about my stand on this and that. 8-P
But I must say I am really impressed with Dan Brown's masterful skills of linking seemingly unrelated/or antagonistic concepts and ideas, such as symbols and myths, Science and religion. it takes a great novelist with a high level of creativity and in-depth knowledge to do that.
now, i am waiting for Transformers to come in Jul.
I like action-packed movies. yeh! 8-)
