It was such a sad state that sports in schools is reduced to chasing of glory with no regards what-so-ever abt true spirit of sportsmanship, sound character, Virtues and Integrity.
The scene is clouded by pockets of individuals with hidden agenda that disregard nurturing our youths into human beings and instead, reduce them to tools and digits to gain medals and personal glory. And recent spats of incidents are testaments of such deterioration.
Is there Hope? and right in the Year of YOG? when we will suppose to be advocating and celebrating Olympism and the values?
What irony.
The adults should be sent for some character and values education. haiz
There is a great article today in ST main section p2 by Leonard Lim.
On another note to my earlier entry abt finding intrinsic meaning in running, is that too altruistic? maybe. How do I know whether I have progressed? taking part in races is a checkpoint/a yardstick to gauge so-called "progress". And see if what I have been subjecting myself to is on the right track.
But it still bugs me... Do I need to gauge my progress? what is considered as progress? PBs? awards? the finishers' medals?
I think the virus is attacking my brain.8-P

Need to recuperate by Fri.
