Dreams and pursuits

"To achieve in sports you first have to have a dream,
and then you must act on that dream.
The best athletes are those who truly enjoy what they are doing
and display a tremendous amount of work ethic.
They continue to persevere in spite of setbacks
and never lose sight of their ultimate goal."
---Dianne Holum

I am a very passionate person, I must confess, and this sometimes translate into my tone, my non-verbal language when I communicate.

It becomes a double-edge sword, either it impacts people positively, or it turns people off. Though I have mellowed down a lot, probably the coming of age, but somehow, it surfaces itself again and again, especially when I see what I perceived as lack of passion, injustice or things that lack clear rationale or principles.

haiz. I should loosen more and stop being so altruistic. But I share this belief that a fren of mine and mentor has, life is not a life of tests (and exams and material pursuits), it is a test of life. There are bigger things in life than material and pragmatic pursuits. mmm...

Anyway, I was thinking abit deeper, I wonder whether we are killing the passion off students, in the name of value adding to their educational experience? I wonder. Or are they, being very driven, take too much than they can chew and in the process, forgot about prioritising and becomes a touch-and-go experience.

Are we nurturing mediocres or helping them to peaks of excellence?
I always feel that children are meant to shine, and they can, if the evironment is there and we help them to see and realise their dreams.

Are we doing that?

I really dont know. Perhaps I will do what is within my sphere of infuence to inspire, hopefully.

Anyway, after the match and sending them back. I think I was emo-ing (haha). decided to go and change my car tyres (safety reasons). Then, went for a run of 6km. It was a quick tempo run, I felt mechanical, just allowing my legs to cruise along, constant plodding. It was a good run, I felt really relieved after that.

Oh, and I just bought a 2nd hand Scotts Addict R4 2009 Frame, 1 year old. OMG!
I think I spend when I am not in a good mood. 8-!

but it was a good buy.
here is the picture of the frame. The parts are not those in the picture. Just that a pic speaks a thousand words.

Time to up my cycling.

byebye.
