Do

“I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. And because I cannot do everything I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.” Hellen Keller

came across a question on fb, along the line that "what do people do on facebook for hours?"

Got me to think; games, voyeuristic peeking into others' lives, chat, share pictures, videos, status updates every other second, preach about life...I guess technology has become entrenched in the lives of many.

Then people start to question and assert that "this way of expression (through the internet)" is "personal", it defines me, it is private, it is "my right". My response is always that once you go on the internet, it will become public. Just like me, posting on my blog which is linked to my facebook updates which means my friends will be able to read it...

So, it is really a public domain.

Personally, I enjoy this "flattening of the world" and the "interconnectivity" that internet offers. Alot of knowledge and information can be acquired and shared, but I must qualify that one needs to be more discerning abt what we receive and I always feel we need to look at things from different perspectives. I still enjoy reading hardcopies of books, the flipping of pages, the screening of my eyes (coming of age?), the folding of corner of pages that I like and writing of short little notes of my thoughts at the margins of paragraphs... It just feels different.

anyway, shan't dwell too much into it, just find it an interesting question.

Ok, tomorrow cycle and run and Sunday will be MacRitchie, see if I can extend my run beyond the 10.5 km trail.

ciao.
