today started on a somber note. notice an increasing trend that students socks are getting invisible... having less and less regard for responsible behaviour. feedback from colleagues as wll. so started off by congratulating the Badminton and basketball teams for winning their matches, and also our very own xiaoyuan superstar, clara tan who entered the final 12...
talking abt that, mmm.. digressed alittle she was super shell shocked when she learnt that she is in the safe zone... can't blame her, her starting was not too good, but got better as the song goes on, ... hope clara continues to project that healthy bubbly positive image of Dunman High.. yeh...but the surprise was the KC girl, she was good, me wife was saying that it's just a strategy by mediacorp, to purposely put her in the danger zone, as publicity and crowd enticer... but she really was good...
back to the flag raising, talk abt responsible behaviour, treating them as responsible individuals, which I firmly believe in, and how some of them have abuse that trust we have... bla bla bla.. but really, if they can't even observe the basic rules (alot of these rules are based on their well-being, personal hygiene) in school, how can they handle the super complex rules when they step into society... anyway, will have to take some structural steps to ëducate" those who need advice on their behaviour and dress code..8-)
oh, went to support the C boys badminton at Chung Cheng High (Main) against Ngee Ann Sec. the boys put up a spirited fight but the opponents are too strong and the one of the boys in first doubles committed too many unforced errors ... too nervous. But the first singles put up a good fight and lost the 2nd set 13-15, first set was 8-15. The 2nd singles was lopsided, but our boy, liang wei put in his best and take it in his stride although he lost, but I am proud of him that he kept his nerve and just played his game.
after that, went down to support the B-girls basketball against bedok view... it was so awesome and exhilirating. I must say the opponents were pretty strong, esp their no. 9, got height and skills. first 2 periods was close but our girls managed to maintain the lead and also managed to get no9 to commit 4 fouls. but 5minutes left in the 4th period was the turning point, our girls were like having so many turnovers and the basket rim seemed to have kana oil, whenever our girls shoot, the ball refuses to go in... then as we lead at 25 to 22, the opponent chop a 3-pointer. gosh! draw at 25-25. worse still, they have 2 schools cheering for them (Bedok Green and Bedok view, becos same coach). But thank god our girls kept their nerve and in the 4th period, with the "help"of some controversial calls from the ref, the opponent's no 9 was fouled out. Then Minghan and meself started to use our vocals with the help of the female supporters (the boys are muted...8-(... shout to the loudest... and we pull away to win the match.. shutting the opponents out in the last period. yehh...it was a good match.. our girls played very well, both offensively and defensively... Dunman High School basketball teams jia you jia you ...mmm... ok, all CCAs going for competitions jia you jia you..8-)
but upon reflection, I have exhibited very unprofessional and unsportsmanlike behaviour, both as a teacher and a supporter. when the opponent's no 9 was fouled out, I actually cheered and clapped with the students. set a really bad example, and no class... morale of the story, never pin down others ... think will share this with the sch tomorrow. .. link up with some feedback that the student councilors were kindaf jeered by their peers when they entered some of the classes for their first class interaction period with the respective classes. sigh... must give support for these councilors, they are really doing what they can for the good of the students.
okie, tomorrow, I shall run to school. training has been quite erratic... sigh... must better prepare for the coming duathlon man.
good nite.
