it's been a while...

it's been a while since my last post.. the duathlon results. after the event, i was like healing from my bloodied palm and knees.. it took 3 weeks, even now, the wound on my right palm can still crack and ooze out blood. arrggh.. irritating..

anyway, didn't run for 2 weeks after the event. was too busy, preparing for my lessons, trying to do all the assessments of artworks and projects, doing overall summary ppt sildes with pics of the best works from each class for each of the classes i am teaching to do a review, planning for 1st leadership training for the class committees, meetings...handling some counselling cases ... think i am quite overwhelmed. reflecting on this first term, there are a lot of things which i could have done better... inter-personal relationships, planning, running of the dept...

mmm... based on my observations and hearing from some teachers and feedback, our students are really stressed out.. teachers too... but it is circumstantial ... think we are trying to do a lot of things which are good for the students... at management level, we do agree we need to cut down on some stuff... too many good things might not be necessarily good..

the class com training was ok, feedback was generally good though at the end of it, i felt we could have more hands-on activity... but anyhow, will be conducting more skills-based training for them. but quite a no. couldn't come because of CCAs. actually at the back of my mind, i have been crying out loud, can't the teachers just relax a little and release these class com members for the 3 hrs training? does it make a difference if they missed just 3 hrs? really, it is we, teachers who chose them to be leading the classes, and we can't just throw them in the sea and expect them to swim on their own, right? we need to equip them with the skills and knowledge so that they can better assist the Form teachers, which happens to be the cca teachers too, aye? sigh... then, the poor s/cs too, they will so overstretched and struggling to meet the expectations of the sch as student leaders, and juggle with their super heavy cca schedules... nvm, i or rather we shall perservere... >8-

mar holidays came in a flash... went to KL for an arts trip with 34 students from Sunday to Wed... very fun, enjoyed the students though they can get on our nerves sometimes with their manners (or lack of it)... but guess it is our responsibility as teacher chaperones to do the honour of educating them...8-)... and trip, though there were quite a fair bit of time for looking at the shopping malls 8-P .. but the museums and galleries were amazing. i did quite a few sketches of 3D works and photos, really like the wooden sculptures. shall share in my next post. but I do see a very lively side of dunmanians... think the sch shld allow this enthu-ness to blosom.. they are rathered 'suppressed' if i may use this word... well, shall work towards that as well... responsible behaviour aye?...8-P

and yes, i managed to squeezed in some runs during the trip, on the treadmill of the hotel gym... yeeehh... did 5km (4x800m with 400m intervals) run and a 2.4 km run on tues and wed and swim in the hotel pool also... shiok man ...

yesterday went for a hill interval run again, the slopes were killers but needed to regain my running fitness...

now, lazing around at home, just had lunch with me wife who's on leave... reading comics slam dunk haha... thanks to han ge who bought this whole 4 sets of jap comics from JB which are my fav since my uni days for a cheap S$336... each series over 30 books... shiok siah... i shall start with slam dunk.

ok, gonna for a swim and probably gym.. need to pick up guagua later. what a relaxed day..

wahoohoo... march hols coming to an end..8-(
