岁月风云

this 60 episodes of TVBS HK serial drama 岁月风云 coming to an end this fri, which is like tonite. it's a good show, talks abt the power struggle for a car industry between family members (one particular son-in-law) and how he rise to power to become the CEO, by hooks and by crooks, thru very underhand methods. and how when he becomes the CEO, he tries all means and using his intelligence (in the wrong ways) to control and retain power and how he goes downhill all the time, with family members shaanin away from him, even his pregnant wife...

anyway, it brings out the same pertinent point, being a true leader, character comes before intelligence (shared by P in his speech). without character, intelligence could be used in unscrupulous means. there are so many contemporary examples, recently the thai governor being indicted for corruption, the former PM for same charges and the most recent one, former President of taiwan chen was indicted for a number of financial scandals including money laundering and embezzlement of public funds (though he has not been formally charged).

so, what is a true leader?

My P would be a very good example.
