Is there tooth fairy?
guagua asked.
He dropped his first milk tooth last week. so at nite, he put this tooth under his pillow, and prayed. Because he told mich that the tooth fairy will come and bring him good luck.
So, in the middle of the nite, mich put a $2 note under his pillow. Guagua woke up later and found the note. He was elated and kept asking Mich if she saw the tooth fairy and that he found the $2 and that there is a tooth fairy. Happily he went back to sleep and next day put the $2 in his piggy bank.
When Mich related this encounter to me, she asked me, should we tell him the truth? that there is no tooth fairy and that this is just a fairy tale.
In the end, we decided to let him believe that there is a tooth fairy. Let him dream, let his creative mind wonder, instead of being so pragmatic and rock him back to the reality of the adult world. Sometimes, in our quest to ground our kids to be ready for the real world, we trade off many things.
did we make a good choice?
Only time will tell.
Maybe, there really is a tooth fairy... just that we adults stopped believing.
