First, thank you to those who have been coming on board my blog, whether as return visitors or accidental stumble-upon ones. Your support and readership is what kept me going. haha. OMG, I am crazy. 8-)
Anyway, there were a couple of inspirational articles in straits times these couple of days.
First one is the article on one of Singapore's prolific Ultramarathoner. can't imagine training in this way 7 days a week, awesome discipline.
2nd one is on one of Lakers' superstars, Kobe Bryant who came here for a one-day tour. I like this description that he impressed on the 20 lucky youths when conducting a clinic,
"...Bryant is defined by his work ethics. And that was the one lesson he pressed on the youths in front of him yesterday - that the secret of his success was no secret at all, just very hard work...
But in the end, it is all about dedication, coming in before everyone else, and leaving after they all have. It is about taking training "religiously" - six hours a day, six days a week during the season... Off-season, it is about building strength and agility, and pushing himself to a 'level where you're hurting'. It is about practising so much, studying opponents so thoroughly, that during a match, there is no longer a need to think."
i guess this is a post I want the sports peeps to read. if you can translate emulate this kindaf attitude in whatever you do, not just in the sports but also in academic and other areas, you will go far. And I think this is very lacking in a number of sports peeps in our sch. which kindaf buffles me. I think one of the classic positive examples will be Quah Ting Wen, our national swimmer who recently brought golds to our nation in the AYG.
learn from them.
